2015 AIBC Awards

Last week the Architectural Institute of British Columbia held the 2015 Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia Awards program.

It’s always fantastic to hear that the photographs we make for our clients help them to be recognised by their peers .  And then at the same time show the general public how clever and good design can affect our lifes in positive ways.

GOOD DESIGN IS GOOD FOR ALL OF US!

We were involved in 3 out of the 12 medals presented.  A big congratulations to our clients and the other firms that were recognized.  Amongst the entries here was a delightful and exciting mix of projects.  I would not have wanted to sit on the Jury, as I don’t think it would have been easy.

The clever and elegant design of the UBC bookstore expansion and renovation by the office of mcfarlane biggar architects + designers receive a Merit award.  I’ve a lasting impression of how this light and airy building was integrated into the UBC campus.

Perkins + Will Vancouver was awarded a Lieutenant Governor of BC Merit Award for their lively and forward thinking Pitt River Middle School.  Another wonderful set of spaces set around the fostering of learning.

Measured Architecture were recognised with the ’emerging firm award’.

Having worked closely with the team at Measured for the last years, this is no surprise to me.  Expect big things to come out of this office in the future!
